The Founder & Chief Executive of VSSU, Mr. Kapilananda Mondal has been promoting microfinance and community & livelihood development in villages throughout the district of South 24 Parganas, West Bengal since 1983. He was awarded an Ashoka Fellowship for Innovative Micro Banking by the Ashoka foundation in Washington DC, USA in 2002

His 25 years of experience in organizational development, resource mobilization, and innovative products & services help to promote and balance the social and financial aspects of rural households. He has developed partnerships with international and national development institutions, commercial banks, local administration & municipal bodies, as well as other institutions actively engaged in microfinance and community development.
